Hedingham is a neighborhood in Raleigh, North Carolina. It is located in Wake County, of which Raleigh is the county seat. Hedingham is bordered by Southall Road on the west side and the Neuse River makes up the eastern border. To the north is the Amberfield neighborhood and to the south is the neighborhood of Edgewater at Roger’s Farm. Hedingham is residential and the majority of the houses are single-family.
The neighborhood of Hedingham has many amenities. These include an 18-hole golf course, two life guard pools: Willow Oak Pool and the Grand Traverse Pool, which also offers a kiddie pool. There are outdoor tennis courts and an athletic center, which includes an indoor basketball court, a weight room and an aerobics room. The center offers many different classes throughout the week. There is also a nursery located at the athletic center.
Also within the neighborhood is Foxcroft Lake. It’s a popular place for camping and fishing. Another option for water lovers is the the Neuse River, which is often filled with kayakers and canoes.
Just north of the neighborhood is the Marsh Creek Park. The park is 110 acres in size and the Rocky Creek runs through it. The 24,000 square foot Marsh Creek Park Community Center features art rooms, classrooms, a computer lab, fitness rooms and a air-conditioned gym. There are picnic shelters, a large open space, a lighted ball field, a hockey rink, a lake and trails. There is also a state-of-the-art playground with rubber matting beneath the play equipment. Perhaps the park’s most popular feature is the innovative skate park. The skate park features a horizontal flow area with curbs and railings, and a large bowl area.
Hedingham is not lacking in activities. From the golf course to the skate park, the neighborhood has something for everyone.
