Griffis Glen Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
Leisurely living with wide city streets, sidewalks, and new houses on wooded lots describe the Griffis Glen community. In this area of Southeast Raleigh, apartments and houses with all the amenities are available. Although the neighborhood is only 15 minutes by automobile to Raleigh, Griffis Glen is also close to the towns of Garner and Knightdale. Barwell Elementary, East Garner Middle, North Garner Middle, and Southeast Raleigh High are nearby and are part of the Wake County School District.
Griffis Glen is close to White Deer Park, the largest park in Garner. Opened in 2009, the 96-acre park has a 2,500-square foot nature center with room for classes and other functions. White Deer Park has a playground and two miles of winding paved trails. Walkers take advantage of the trails, but share them with bikers, skateboarders, and scooters. The park is the perfect escape for suburbanites wanting the tranquility of the woods. Despite its open spaces, White Deer Park does not have an off-leash area for dogs, but leashed dogs are welcome here.
Shopping enthusiasts in the neighborhood don’t need to drive into Raleigh to shop. The Shoppes at the Midway Plantation in Knightvale offers anchor stores including Target, Home Depot, and Dick’s Sporting Goods. Kohls and Best Buy are two retail stores surrounding the shopping mall.
Long before the arrival of European settlers and explorers, Native Americans were the first inhabitants of North Carolina. In 1792, the North Carolina General Assembly named the city of Raleigh after English explorer Sir Walter Raleigh.
In Downtown Raleigh, the 170,000-square foot North Carolina Museum of History is where visitors can learn about the history, geography, and government of North Carolina. The North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame is part of the museum. Athletes linked to North Carolina are featured here.
