This community is just east of Jordan Road and immediately west of Black Penny Road, about 25 minutes from the center of the capital city. Less than 50 single-family home sites can be found here in total, situated on fairly wide open lots of various sizes. Egrets Nest Lane, Retriever Lane, and Brack Place are the only streets on the neighborhood interior, creating two access points along the east side. There are no sidewalks, but there is also little traffic in the interior of the community, which means residents can run and play on the streets rather safely. Among the area communities are Jacobs Ridge, Laurel Grove, and Forest Glen.

This side of the city is more remote, and residents enjoy a sense of country living; however, there are still many city attractions within a short drive of home. A small retail center is a few minutes to the southeast, providing visitors with a supermarket and several specialty shops and eateries. Larger shopping malls and entertainment venues can be found to the north in downtown Raleigh, as well as nearby Cary and Garner.

The Triangle area also offers plenty of outdoor attractions, and several of these can be found within 10 miles north of Glen Meadows. Lake Wheeler is a popular destination for fishing, boating, and swimming, and it includes a 150-acre park that offers playgrounds, picnic areas, nature trails, and volleyball courts. Lake Benson is also situated nearby, as are the Meadowbrook Country Club and Garner Golf Course.
