Located east of Downtown Raleigh, Beechwood is a an older neighborhood situated in zip code 27610. It is south of Knightdale Bypass/US 264/64 and southwest of the intersection of Knightdale Bypass with I-540. West of Beechwood is the Raleigh Beltline/I-440 and its intersection with I-40.

Beechwood’s boundaries are Poole Road on the north, Barwell Road on the west and the Neuse River on the east. Homes are built on wooded lots and the neighborhood is surrounded by large areas of forest and some farmland. It’s a pleasant area to drive or for adults to bicycle; however, there are no sidewalks and care should be taken if walking.

For nearby parks and recreation, Anderson Point Park is a short drive north. Also, along the Neuse River, access points for canoeing and kayaking are located here as well as trails inside the park, access to greenway trails, a playground, fishing, picnic areas, picturesque views, and nature and craft programs. Also, northward is the Marsh Creek Park, which has a skate park, community center, playground, ball fields, and inline hockey rink. It also has a rain garden with native plants, a pond, woods, a prairie, and hiking.

Shopping and dining can be found in several nearby areas. The Shoppes at Battle Bridge is located on Rock Quarry Road, just a short drive to the southwest. North of Beechwood and Knightdale Bypass is New Bern Avenue/US-64, which is dotted with businesses including the Edgewater Place shopping center with a number of retail stores, restaurants, and a sports pub.

For entertainment, Downtown Raleigh features a number of venues including museums, the RBC Center, Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts, and the Lincoln Center. Closer to Beechwood are the Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion at Walnut Creek for and the Walnut Creek Softball Complex.
