Opportunities for fishing and golfing are close to the Spicewood neighborhood. Anglers will enjoy fishing spots less than seven miles from the neighborhood. Richland Creek is a stream with a population of bass and channel catfish. The White Oak Lake has blue catfish, gar and sunfish. Lake Jeanette Dam has trout and sturgeon.

Three Greensboro municipal reservoirs, Lake Townsend, Lake Brandt and Lake Higgins occupy over 2,600 acres. Nature enthusiasts and hikers observe various species of birds and enjoy tracking their seasonal migrations.

The Grandover Resort has two 18-hole golf courses that are part of the numerous scenic golf courses located near Spicewood. Designed by David Graham and Gary Panks in the late 1990s, the golf courses are open to the public.
