Hampton Community is a residential area located on the southeast side of Downtown Greensboro. The neighborhood is contained by the 27401 zip code. Hampton Community is one of Greensboro’s oldest neighborhoods. Many of the homes in the established neighborhood date back to the 1950s and 60s. A variety of home styles are found in Hampton Community.

Residents of Hampton Community enjoy being near Downtown shopping, museums, venues and colleges. Three museums sit two miles west of Hampton Community: The Greensboro Historical Museum, the Greensboro Children’s Museum and the International Civil Rights Center and Museum. A popular performance arts and concert venue, the Carolina Theatre, is a short two mile drive from the neighborhood as well.

The city of Greensboro offers residents a variety of park and recreation facilities including neighborhood parks, larger natural regional parks, recreation centers and watershed parks. Watershed parks surround lakes and many offer boating and fishing opportunities, as well as educational programs.

The Jimmie Barber Park is the closest park to Hampton Community. The small neighborhood park features recently renovated playground equipment and a walking path. The Eastside Park Community Center is also nearby and within walking distance. The community center enjoys strong community support and boasts a long list of accomplishments in bettering the surrounding neighborhood. The center often hosts fundraisers and family events.

The city of Greensboro is home to 11 colleges and universities. The most prestigious and popular schools in Greensboro are located in the downtown district and are just minutes from Hampton Community.
