Travel ten miles south of Raleigh and you’ll find the quiet suburb of Garner. Home to over 20,000 residents, Garner maintains a small-town feel just outside the metro area. The University of North Carolina, Duke University, and the Research Triangle Park are all within a short distance.
Garner has an excellent Parks and Recreation program ranging from baseball to soccer. Lake Benson Park holds one of the largest 4th of July celebrations in the area. Garner’s newest park, White Deer, is the city’s first “green” park. White Deer Park has over 8 miles of walking trails and a new organic children’s playground.
Garner has an active nightlife with many bars and fine restaurants. White Oak, a large multi-use complex with a movie theater and multiple shopping outlets, recently opened in Garner.
With the nearby Research Triangle, Garner is a popular place for businesses. It is a short distance from several golf courses and sports venues. Garner is home to NBA player David West and former Duke University head coach Carl Franks.
