Silverwood is a neighborhood in Charlotte, North Carolina. The northern border is Plaza Road Extension, while the west is Plott Road, the south is Pence Road, and the east is Alanbrook Road. The neighborhood is east of downtown Charlotte and west of the I-485.
This neighborhood has tons of mature trees. The homes were built for the most part in the late 1980s. There are a variety of styles among the homes, both one and two story. There are no sidewalks in the neighborhood. Silverwood is a residential neighborhood.
Nearby Reedy Creek Park and Nature Preserve was purchased by the city of Charlotte in 1981. In 1997 it was divided in a park and the nature preserve. The park is approx 125 acres and the nature preserve is over 700 acres. This is a huge area; it is over a mile from the entrance to the nature center. Between the two areas there are over 10 miles of trails to explore. The nature center has an exhibition hall and a classroom and some live local animals. There are three lakes, playground, all fields, fishing, picnicking areas and lots more to do at Reddy Creek. There is also Barkingham Dog Park where people can bring their dogs to play off leash.
Larkhaven Golf Club is a public club which offers a limited number of memberships. There are 18 holes in this challenging golf course, with nine water hazards. This is one of the oldest golf clubs in Charlotte and considered one of the best deals around.
Albermarle Square Shopping Center, which is just a short drive from Silverwood, offers a Food Lion Grocery Store, Walmart, Subway, Chick-Fil-A, Dairy Queen and Radio Shack.
