It brings to mind mint juleps and magnolias, plantation houses and parasols: Welcome to Myers Park, one of Charlotte’s oldest and wealthiest neighborhoods. The homes in this little corner of North Carolina are anything but understated — large, impressive Colonial Revival mansions line the quiet streets shaded by tall trees. Homes such as the Duke Mansion, former home of James Buchanan Duke, bring to mind the Old South in this historic neighborhood.
Myers Park is home to Queens University of Charlotte and Manor Theater — one of the oldest movie theaters in Charlotte, complete with a few ghosts and legends of its own. The neighborhood is centered around Edgehill Park, a large green space with a creek and a playground. Myers Park is located two miles south of downtown Charlotte, due west of the Mint Museum of Art.
