Hembstead is a charming neighborhood in one of Charlotte’s premier locations. It is located off of Pineville-Matthews Road. The Hembstead neighborhood has an HOA and annual dues. There is a swim and tennis club as part of the subdivision. Hembstead is conveniently located southeast of downtown and has access on the I485 to the I77.

Homes are large in the Hembstead neighborhood. The average house is more than 4000 square feet. The styles are varied and include Southern plantation-style homes in several variations as well as European cottage-style homes. These homes are unique, high end and have lawns that are lush but not as large as might be expected with homes of this size.

The children of the neighborhood will attend Elizabeth Lane Elementary, South Charlotte Middle School, and Providence High School.

The closeness of the Arboretum Shopping Center is a great plus. The Arboretum boasts a huge Harris Teeter Super Market, Barnes and Noble bookstore, Bed Bath and Beyond, Gap, Kid’s Place, Nine West, Oreck and many others. There are lots of places to eat as well including Five Guys, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Ben and Jerry’s and McDonalds. There is also a cinema with 12 screens.

Raintree Country Club is located across the street from the Hembstead neighborhood. It offers 36 holes of golf as well as swimming, tennis, a fitness center and fine dining. This is a member owned private country club. The two 18 hole courses are very different and both offer unique challenges to the avid golfer.
