The Harbor House neighborhood of Charlotte, North Carolina has more trees than people. This forested neighborhood is three neighborhoods in one. On the western border at Lake Wylie, the residents have access to fishing, boating, and swimming. The homes, set back into the trees, are on large lots. Many of them have private boat docks.

In the middle of Harbor House is a small community of older, well-kept homes, built in the mid-1950s. One of the first homes in the community was built in 1850 and has been designated as an historic home. It is one of the few antebellum farmhouses remaining in the vicinity. The eastern border of this neighborhood is Interstate 485 and this portion of the neighborhood is populated with manufactured homes. The northern border is Interstate 85 and Wilkinson Avenue (Andrew Jackson Highway) borders the south.

In the midst of the forest are two churches. On the frontage roads on Interstate 85 and 485 and on Wilkinson Avenue, there is a mix of light industry and smaller business. The Charlotte Douglas International Airport is six miles southeast of the Harbor House neighborhood and is the major industry for this region. Just beyond the airport on Wilkinson Avenue are many opportunities for shopping and dining at the Wilkinson Boulevard Shopping Center and the Wal-Mart SuperCenter. Across the street from the Shopping Center is the Carolina Golf Course.

The area is supported by the Berryhill Elementary School, the Wilson Middle School, and West Mecklenburg High School. Being bordered by two major highways, the Harbor House neighborhood has quick and convenient access to everything that Charlotte, North Carolina has to offer.
