Located along the Delaware River across from Northeast Philadelphia, Riverside is a busy township in New Jersey. Founded as a resort town in 1851, Riverside was a vacation hotspot for affluent Philadelphia residents. It was also the location of the Philadelphia Watch Case Company – the world’s largest watch case manufacturer during a time when a pocket watch was a gentleman’s staple accessory. The large, Gothic-style building and its impressive clock tower serve as a major Riverside landmark.
Today, Riverside is a popular community for those who commute into Philadelphia. Rent an apartment in Riverside and you’ll quickly realize why – the town still has that resort feel, complete with shady, tree-lined streets, beautiful parks, and wide sidewalks. Mass transit options are readily available, with the Riverside Station offering service on the River Line light rail system, which connects Camden and Trenton with connections to Philadelphia, as well as the PATCO Speedline, a rapid transit system that connects Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Camden County, New Jersey.
