Asbury Park is located along the Jersey Shore about an hour southeast of Newark and an hour south of New York City. This Monmouth County city was incorporated in 1874, when it was formed from portions of Ocean Township.

Asbury Park has a large population of artists, including musicians. A unique type of music known as the Jersey Shore Sound began here, many of whom got their start at the Stone Pony. The Stone Pony is a famous club where Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi, and others launched their careers.
