Budd Lake, a charming community located in Mount Olive Township, New Jersey. It is named for John Budd, who arrived in Boston in 1637 and made his way to what is now New York. The house he built in 1649 still stands – it was moved to Cutchogue in 1661 by Joshua Horton and is a National Historic Landmark.
The lake itself is the largest natural lake in New Jersey, measuring 374 acres in surface area and up to 12 feet in depth. Budd Lake State Wildlife Management Area borders the western side of the lake and includes Lou Nelson Park. The park contains a playground and ball courts.
Budd Lake is a charming lakeside community with a rural feel. It is situated near the center of Mount Olive in northern New Jersey roughly 50 miles west of Manhattan.
