Snug along a bend in the Meramec River, the city of Valley Park is beautiful — so beautiful, in fact, it began as a summer resort area in the late 19th century.
Eventually industry invaded, and the quiet resort area began to develop. Today, Valley Park maintains its resort feel through an extensive park system.
Lone Elk Park is probably one of the most unique parks you’ll find. It is an open preserve with deer, elk, and buffalo. Visitors can drive through the preserve and observe the animals. The park also contains the World Bird Sanctuary and several picnic areas.
Simpson Park encompasses a large fishing and boating lake, while Buder Park is on the Meramec River with open fields and a full runway for model airplanes.
Located just 18 miles southwest of St. Louis, Valley Park has good schools, several shopping areas, and the nearby Daimler-Chrysler assembly plant.
