Fairfield Acres is a rather small, primarily residential neighborhood. It’s bordered to the west by Northwest Bypass/Highway 160 and to the east by North Park Avenue. West Nichols Street serves as its northern border, and West Chestnut Expressway/Interstate 44 is its southern border.

Nichols Park is a mile east of Fairfield Acres, and it is an 18-acre park that offers a lit baseball field, a playground, open parkland, picnic tables, a drinking fountain, two lit tennis courts, a soccer field, and an outdoor basketball court. The 16-acre Westport Park is a half-mile to its south. It has a swimming pool, a wading pool, outdoor basketball courts, a playground, a refreshing water fountain, grills, picnic tables, two tennis courts, and two lit softball fields.

The neighborhood is central to many of Springfield’s most important landmarks. The Springfield-Branson National Airport is three miles to its northwest. The Discovery Center of Springfield, a popular science museum for families, is three miles to its east. The History Museum of Springfield, The Calaboose Museum, and the Gillioz Theater are all around two and a half miles to the east.

Fairfield Acres is very popular among college students, due to its proximity to large variety of schools. Missouri State University is three and a half miles east of the center of the community, while the Missouri College of Cosmetology is two miles to its northeast. Drury University and Cox College are both about three miles to its east, and the Forest Institute of Professional Psychology is three miles to its south. Everest College, Baptist Bible College, Bryan College, and Ozarks Technical Community College are within a four-mile radius.
