Columbia, Missouri, the home the University of Missouri (MIZZOU) is a mid-sized city located off Interstate 70 between Kansas City and St. Louis. The city sprawls across 53-square miles of central Missouri land. Columbia boasts diverse neighborhoods, conveniently near shopping, schools, and recreation.
Just north of Interstate 70 and Clark Lane is the residential neighborhood of Zaring. Sandwiched between Hanover Boulevard and North Bellenger Lane, Zaring is a modest neighborhood with mature trees and walkable lanes.
Zaring is central to two of the area’s popular golf courses, about three miles to either the Columbia Country Club or the municipal Lake of the Woods Golf Course. The Columbia Country Club sits on 120-acres, its 18-hole golf course amid densely wooded fairways and scenic greens. The city’s Lake of the Woods Golf Course is a larger public facility featuring 18-holes of golf and a recreation area that includes a city swimming pool with water slide.
About five miles west of Zaring is Columbia’s 81-acre city park, the Albert-Oakland Park. Located on Blue Ridge Road, the park offers several recreational choices for area residents including fields for baseball, softball, and soccer. There are three lighted tennis courts and three sand volleyball courts as wells as basketball facilities and two playgrounds.
North of Zaring, less than a twenty-minute drive is the Finger Lakes State Park. A haven for off-roading enthusiasts, this nearby state park has 70 miles of trails including a professionally designed motocross track and a youth riding track for kids, ages twelve and under. The park’s lake is a popular place for boating, fishing, and swimming.
Zaring’s location makes it a quick trip to shopping at the North Country Shopping Center or the Whitegate Shopping Center off U.S. 40. Zaring is only five miles from downtown and the campus of the University of Missouri.
