The Roemer Lake neighborhood is less than four miles north of Downtown Columbia, Missouri. The homes here are mainly large, ranch-style, single-family dwellings masterfully constructed to blend with the Missouri landscape along Roemer Road. A narrow rural street runs through Roemer Lake with much of the natural scenery left untouched. The area has many large trees and native greenery lending to the neighborhood’s beauty.

Roemer Lake is located in Boone County. Most of the public schools are south of the neighborhood. Parkade Elementary and Derby Ridge Elementary are both within a three-mile radius of Roemer Lake. Smithton Middle and Hickman High School are just over three miles away.

A popular recreational area is Cosmo Park or Skatepark, located about 1.5 miles south of Roemer Lake. Cosmo Park is adjacent to the L.A. Nickell Golf Course. Cosmo provides various athletic fields and walking trails. A magnificent view of the small lake is located at Cosmo just off North Stadium Boulevard. This park should not be confused with the Cosmo-Bethel Park located farther south.

Just south of Cosmo Park and approximately three miles from Roemer Lake is Columbia Mall. The mall and the surrounding area have many shopping and dining venues. Downtown Columbia is less than a 15-minute drive south. Residents can enjoy the many specialty shops and pubs. Art galleries, museums, and entertainment venues are also found in Downtown.

To the north of Roemer Lake, approximately five miles, is the Rocky Fork Lakes Conservation Area. North of Rocky Fork is Finger Lakes State Park. Rocky Forks has over a dozen lakes and ponds for fishing and boating. Finger Lake provides off-road trails for ATVs and a motocross track. A waterway is available for canoeing, fishing, swimming, and scuba diving. Camping is also allowed at Finger Lakes; modern bathrooms and showers are provided.
