Meadows Apartments for Rent
The Meadows neighborhood is located east of South Providence Road in Columbia, Missouri, in zip code 65205. It can only be accessed by Huntridge Drive off Outer Road/Carter Lane. It is a pleasant neighborhood that’s far enough from downtown yet convenient to many attractions and services, and just over a mile to the center of the University of Missouri campus.
Nearby recreational areas include the A. L. Gustin Golf Course, less than two miles away. Located on the edge of the Mizzou campus, it’s a popular course and quite affordable. About three miles south is Rock Bridge State Park. Its caves are a big attraction, and tours are available. With its 25 miles of trails, it is also a popular park for those who enjoy mountain biking, horseback riding, and hiking.
The historical site Village at Boone Junction has several historic structures, including Ensley Country Store and Reyland Farm House. The newest addition may delight anyone who is familiar with Columbia’s famous author William “Least-Heat Moon” Trogdon. His book “Riverhorse” recounted his journey retracing the voyage of Lewis and Clark. His boat for the journey, “Nikawa,” is housed in the River Horse Pavilion at Boone Junction.
Downtown Columbia’s main entertainment, shopping, and historic area, known as The District, is a neat place where all three categories often converge. The Blue Note is a hot place for blues, reggae, and alternative rock. It is located in a restored Vaudeville theater.
The area is also home to Columbia Cemetery. Established in 1820, it is on the National Register of Historic Places. Two Revolutionary War soldiers are buried here, as is J. W. “Blind” Boone. Boone was an internationally recognized concert pianist who gained equal fame for his ragtime compositions.
