Columbia, Missouri, located between Kansas City and St. Louis, is home to about 100,000 residents. On the northern side in the 65202 zip code is the residential neighborhood of Lake Capri. Lake Capri is a rural neighborhood with open green spaces and small wooded areas. It sits in the Hallsville School District, just north of State Road HH.

The northern area of Columbia and the neighborhood of Lake Capri are near the Rocky Fork Lakes Conservation Area and the Finger Lakes State Park. Both recreation areas are to the west of Lake Capri. Finger Lakes State Park has miles of trails, including a dirt trail for all-terrain vehicles and motorcycles and trails for hiking and cycling. This state park also has facilities for fishing and camping.

Five miles south of Lake Capri is the 80-acre Atkins Park. This park is adjacent to the Boone County Fairgrounds and has two lighted baseball fields and a fishing lake. The park is north of the North Country Shopping Center. This retail area has a grocery store and other shops and is about ten minutes from Lake Capri. To the west of the shopping center is the Albert-Oakland Park, which has soccer fields, as well as a baseball field and sand volleyball courts.

Just south of Interstate 70, about 20 minutes from Lake Capri is the Columbia Country Club. The 18-hole golf course sits on 120 acres, offering players scenic greens and tree-lined fairways. Known as Columbia’s first private golf club, it also features a Junior Olympic-sized pool and dining facilities.

South of the country club is the University of Missouri. Residents of Lake Capri are about twenty-five minutes from the campus, Taylor Stadium, and the Mizzou Botanic Garden.
