Also known as the Columbia Cosmopolitan Recreation Area (CCRA), this park offers a variety of athletic facilities, picnic shelters, a skate park, 18-hole golf course, playground, roller hockey rink, and trailhead access, among other amenities. Dogs are welcome here in the off-leash park.

Additional attractions near downtown Columbia, not far from Haystack Acres, include the Columbia Mall, Columbia Country Club, Forum Shopping Center, and Kiwanis Park. In addition to the University of Missouri campus, the downtown area also hosts Columbia College, Stephens College, and several medical centers.
