Historic Southwest Rochester is located just outside of downtown Rochester, Minnesota. This neighborhood’s boundaries are 2nd Street Southwest to the north, 10th Avenue Southwest to the west, and Broadway Avenue South to the east. A winding boundary meanders around Soldiers Field and across the south end eventually meeting at 10th Avenue Southwest.

This neighborhood has businesses both large and small. On the largest end of the scale, the world renowned Mayo Clinic is very close by, with facilities covering several city blocks. Mayo Clinic Internal Medicine resides on 1st Street Southwest, with Rochester Methodist Hospital to the north. Connected by subway and skyway, the International Hotel on 2nd Avenue Southwest offers world-class luxury hotel service to visitors of Rochester.

At the 10th Avenue boundary of this neighborhood is St. Mary’s Park. This park marks the location of St. Mary’s Hospital, another Mayo Clinic location. This hospital is one of the largest private hospitals in the United States.

Historic Southwest Rochester also hosts runners from around the country. A Rochester Track Club Grand Prix Event attracts this crowd for the annual half-marathon, which runs through parts of Historic southwest Rochester.

Plummer House Park lies partially within the boundaries of this neighborhood. An historic home sits on these grounds on the opposite end of the park.

Home prices in Historic Southwest Rochester average about $280 thousand. Single-family homes are the most common housing here, though condos also serve this neighborhood.
