Fort Indiantown Gap dates back to 1755 when Pennsylvania colonists established a fortification against the Susquehannock Indians.

Fort Indiantown Gap surrounds Memorial Lake State Park, a 230-acre park established in 1945 to honor Pennsylvania National Guard soldiers who served in WWI and WWII. The park is a natural monument and is a popular destination for ice skating, cross-country skiing, fishing, ice fishing, and hiking.
