Great Lakes Naval Training Center Area Apartment Housing

Naval Station Great Lakes the Navy’s largest training station and hosts the Navy’s only Recruit Training Command. It is also the largest military installation in the state of Illinois. As the Navy’s only boot camp, the facility trains roughly 40,000 recruits annually, with over 7,000 enrolled at any one time.

The Naval Station is located in North Chicago between the communities of Lake Bluff and Downey. Apartment near the Great Lakes Naval Training Center vary, depending on the area and how close you’ll want to be. Downtown Chicago and all of its museums, theaters, restaurants, and shops is only about 35 miles south, and is easily accessible from the Metrarail Great Lakes station.

North Chicago is considered a suburb of Chicago, and in addition to the Great Lakes Naval Training Center, it is home to the Abbott Laboratories headquarters and the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. The North Chicago Metrarail station is located just north of the base near 17th Street, ideal for trips into Chicago.
