Tyndall Air Force Base Area Apartment Housing(hide military information)
Situated on a peninsula across East Bay from Panama City, Tyndall Air Force Base is a large training facility that was built in 1941. The host unit is the 325th Fighter Wing, which is responsible for training F-22A Raptor pilots. The wing also trains maintenance and support personnel. In addition to the 325 FW, the base hosts about 30 tenant wings. The base is named for Lieutenant Benjamin Tyndall, a WWI pilot and Silver Star recipient.
A beautiful, busy area known for tourism, the Panama City area is a terrific location for an apartment near Tyndall AFB. Look in the eastern section of the city in neighborhoods such as Callaway, Parker, and Springfield. For an apartment in a quieter, less touristy location, consider Mexico Beach, a sleepy beachside city located about 13 miles southeast of the base.
