Once owned by the Navy, the Los Alamitos base was transferred to the Army in 1977. Today, the Los Alamitos Army Airfield is part of the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base and is the headquarters for the 40th Infantry Division of the Army. It also serves as an alternate landing site for Air Force One.
