Situated 25 miles north of Boston, Tewksbury is between the Merrimack River to the north and the Shawsheen River to the south. The area around the Shawsheen River marks the oldest part of town. Andover is to the east and Lowell is to the northeast.
Tewksbury is home to the Public Health Museum, located in Tewksbury Hospital. The hospital was established in 1852 and covers 900 acres. Another noteworthy spot is the Brown Tavern, constructed around 1790. This was supposedly a stop for President Andrew Jackson during a historic visit to Tewksbury.
