Wildwood Neighborhood

The Wildwood neighborhood is situated roughly 20 minutes east of downtown Louisville, Kentucky, near the city of St. Matthews. This community consists of several streets north of Shelbyville Road, east of North Hurstbourne Parkway, south of Tamarisk Parkway, and west of Dorsey Way. The zip code for Wildwood is 40223, and it falls within Jefferson County. Neighboring communities include Sycamore, Blue Ridge Manor, and Bellemeade.

The main streets that make up the Wildwood neighborhood are Wildwood Lane, Tanglewood Trail, and Longwood Circle. Along these streets are mostly single-family homes on tree-shaded lots.

The Wildwood neighborhood is convenient to several area attractions. Immediately west of the neighborhood, on the other side of Hurstbourne Parkway, is the Isaac Shelby Campus University of Louisville, one of the area’s higher education options.

For local shopping, residents of Wildwood are roughly two miles east of two prominent area shopping centers. Situated along the intersection of Shelbyville Road and I-264 are the Oxmoor Center and St. Matthews Mall.

For outdoor recreation, Wildwood residents have several options in the area. Roughly two miles west of the neighborhood is the E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park, one of 52 state parks in Kentucky. Here, residents can make use of a one-mile fitness trail, tennis courts, swimming pool, BMX track, recreation programs, and community center. There is also an Activities Center on the park grounds, which hosts an indoor gymnasium that seats 600 and is used for sporting events, leagues, and clinics. Adjacent to the state park on the south is the Central State Hospital, a convenient option for health care within a short drive of Wildwood.

For those residents who aren’t opposed to paying membership fees, the Standard Country Club is situated a few miles north of the community and offers a variety of amenities in addition to one of the city’s finer 18-hole golf courses.
