The community is bounded by Bernheim Lane and Algonquin Parkway on the north and Wathen Lane, Conn Street, and Strader Avenue on the south. Its western boundary is created by Dixie Highway, South Seventh Street, and Parthenia Avenue; its eastern boundary is created by Taylor Boulevard and Rodman Street. It encompasses the 40208 and 40215 zip code area and falls within Jefferson County.

In total, this largely residential neighborhood spans more than 1.3 square miles and has nearly 7,300 residents. Most of the homes in this community date back to pre-1940, although some construction continued on into the 50s and 60s, which gives the neighborhood a historic feel. As of 2008, the average household income in Taylor Berry was $32,127, which is on par with the city average of $34,116.

One of the most significant features of the Taylor Berry neighborhood is its close proximity to the University of Louisville campus, which is situated less than one mile to the east, easily within walking distance. Also on campus grounds is the Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium, home of the U of L Cardinal football team.

A neighborhood park – South Central Park – can be found within neighborhood bounds, along Lindbergh Drive and Lillian Avenue. Among the amenities here are a softball/baseball field, football/soccer field, two basketball courts and a playground. The park is a popular spot for recreation within this mostly residential community. Schools within neighborhood bounds include Frayser Elementary School on Larchmont Avenue.
