Highview Neighborhood

Highview is a Louisville, Kentucky neighborhood that is primarily composed of middle class residents. Located north of Interstate 265, Highview offers its commuters a suburban appeal and quick access to the rest of the city.

Housing in this area is an eclectic mix from several eras of growth. Most of the older homes here sprouted between the 1940s and the 1960s, although a few homes are older than these. With several growth spurts since these times, newer and more modern homes also populate the landscape. Most recently, condos and town homes have been appearing in this neighborhood.

Highview is bordered by Shepherdsville Road to the west and East Manslick Road to the south. Its eastern border jogs from Beulah Church Road to South Watterson Trail. The northern border then follows a riverway over to Fern Valley Road and Poplar Level Road.

Highview’s population of over 15 thousand residents is served by several schools, both public and private. St. Athanasius school on Outer Loop serves Catholic students from preschool to eighth grade. Moore Traditional School, also on Outer Loop, serves as a public school for grades six through twelve. Whitefield Academy on Fegenbush Lane is deemed a “Christ-Centered Preparatory School” for kindergarten through twelfth grade students. Also on Fegenbush Lane, Luhr Elementary school offers public education to preschoolers through fifth graders. St. Bernard Catholic School on Tangelo Drive is another private school for preschool through eight grade students.
