Highlands Douglass is a neighborhood in Louisville, Kentucky, within Jefferson County. This community is just over five miles southeast of the downtown area. Highlands Douglass is part of a larger area of the city known as The Highlands, and is often referred to simply as “Douglass.” The zip code here is 40250.

This large, primarily residential neighborhood encompasses .816 square miles and has more than 3,250 residents. Its western boundary is also created by Bardstown Road, and its eastern boundary is created by Park Boundary Road, Broadmere Road, and Seneca Park.

Most of the homes in Highlands Douglass date back to the 1920s, when development was spurred shortly after a streetcar line was introduced into the area. Development slowed due to the Great Depression, and because of this, the neighborhood wasn’t completed until the early 1950s. Due to this slow development, homes here range from craftsman and historical revival styles to ranch-style dwellings. Tudor, English, Colonial, and Dutch Revival styles can be seen amid modest brick bungalows, depending on the area.

Residents of Highlands Douglass are within walking distance or a short drive of a variety of area attractions and amenities. The bordering parks are popular destinations for outdoor activities. Both Seneca Park and Cherokee Park are within walking distance and offer a variety of amenities. Bowman Field, an area airfield, is situated just on the other side of Seneca Park.

Within a few miles southwest of Highlands Douglass are a variety of additional attractions. Among these are the Louisville Zoo, the Louisville International Airport, and the Audubon Country Club. Also in this area are medical facilities, as well as colleges and universities, including Bellarmine College and the University of Louisville.
