Iowa City is situated about a half-hour drive south of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Roosevelt, located near the heart of the downtown area, is one of just a dozen or so neighborhoods in Iowa City. This conveniently located community is just a few minutes south of Interstate 80, and it is roughly bounded by Highway 6 on the north and Highway 27 on the west. The Roosevelt neighborhood is partially residential, but it also contains the Iowa City Municipal Airport near its center and parts of the University of Iowa campus on the north. Part of Mesquakie Park can be found within neighborhood bounds, and Napoleon Park, Wetherby Park, and Ryersons Woods all surround the community as well. Several other parks exist on the north side of the neighborhood, and the Pleasant Valley Golf Course sits just a few minutes southeast of Roosevelt.
Residents of this ideally located community enjoy easy access to all that downtown has to offer, including the area’s many shops, eateries, entertainment venues, and cultural attractions. The Old Capitol Museum can be found nearby, as can the Englert Civic Theater. Mercy Hospital is also situated close to home, constituting a convenient health care option. The residential areas offer something for everyone, from single-family homes and apartment living to townhome and condominium communities.
