Ross Center is a neighborhood located amongst the southern neighborhoods of Evansville, Indiana. It is located near several major institutions in Evansville. Parks, hospitals, schools, and shopping are all located within a few blocks of Ross Center.
The Wesselman Woods Nature Preserve is located a few blocks north of the Ross Center neighborhood. The preserve is 200 acres of hardwood forest. Wesselman is a free facility that accepts donations. The facility has six miles of walking trails and hundreds of flowers, as well as a large variety of birds and mammals. Lorraine Park is on the western boundary of the neighborhood.
Two large medical institutions that serve the southern Indiana area offer health care and job opportunities to Ross Center residents. St. Mary’s Medical Center is one of the largest hospitals in the southern section of the state. HealthSouth Deaconess Rehabilitation Hospital is an eighty-bed hospital that features state of the art rehabilitation technology.
The University of Evansville is an easy drive north of northwest of Ross Center. This liberal arts college, connected to the Methodist Church, offers both undergraduate and graduate classes. University performances also provide low-cost entertainment via school performances.
The neighborhood also offers several choices for preschool and elementary children, both private and public. Benjamin Bosse High School serves the area teenagers.
Three shopping centers, Lawndale Shopping Center, Covert and Vann Shopping Center, and Covert And Lodge Shopping Center, are within easy driving distance from the Ross Center neighborhood. Smaller stores and restaurants are located around the area as well.
