Nearby major thoroughfares include US-41, which is the eastern border of the neighborhood, and Route 66/62 West Lloyd Expressway that serves as the northern border. South Evans Avenue is the western boundary and Lincoln Avenue is the southern boundary.

Ballard’s homes date back to the turn of the 20th century so the trees and foliage are mature. As there is some commercial buildings in the neighborhood, caution should be taken if walking and riding bikes.

On the west side of Evansville is the Mesker Park Zoo & Botanic Garden.
