Located along the Rock River roughly 15 miles from the Wisconsin border, Rockford’s lush, green setting and towering trees gave it the nickname, Forest City. But when you rent a Rockford apartment, it isn’t just the gorgeous surroundings you’ll be getting – this dynamic city features culture, nightlife, restaurants, shopping, and more.

The Rockford Art Museum contains a collection of 19th and 20th century American art and includes both permanent and changing exhibits. With over 1,500 works of art, this is the largest art museum outside of Chicago in the state. Other museums include the Erlander Home Museum, the Ethnic Heritage Museum, the Discovery Center Museum, and the Burpee Museum of Natural History. Performance venues include the Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center, the New American Theater, and several community theaters.

As the home of the rock band Cheap Trick, Rockford also provides great music venues and is home to the largest music festival in the state. Concerts, theater performances, and more can be seen at the spectacular Coronado Performing Arts Center, built in 1927. The theater hosted such legends as Sammy Davis, Jr., Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, and George Gershwin.

Other Rockford attractions include Tinker Swiss Cottage Museum, the Klehm Arboretum and Botanic Garden, Rock Cut State Park, and Faust Landmark, a historic landmark built in 1929. It is the tallest building in Rockford.
