Oakdale Park is a picturesque neighborhood located in the Smyrna/Vinings portion of Atlanta. The neighborhood is located in Cobb County, at the intersection of Atlanta Road and Daniel Street, just north of Cumberland Parkway. The park itself is one of the highlights of the Smyrna/Vinings community, drawing children and adults of all ages.
The fact that Oakdale Park is located off of the high-traffic Atlanta Road may cause concern for some parents, but like a majority of neighborhoods in the community, Oakdale is friendly, suburban, and well-patrolled by the local police. Kid-friendly restaurants and shops are nearby at Ivy Walk, a popular place to escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Located about 15 minutes to the Northwest of Downtown Atlanta, the Smyrna/Vinings area was once a middle-class suburb, full of families wishing to escape the rapidly growing population and home prices that beset the area in the early 2000s. Today, the Smyrna/Vinings area has turned into a trendy community that stands on its own merits, with a collection of shops, restaurants, bars, and pedestrian-friendly areas. Residents are primarily young, upwardly-mobile professionals in their 20s and 30s.
The park at Oakdale Park is separated into two separate sections: one that’s appropriate for toddlers, and another that provides entertainment for older children. Both areas have a wrap-around fence for security.
