Bolton is located in the Bankhead section of Atlanta. Bankhead is a neighborhood located west of downtown Atlanta. Bolton in Bankhead is easily accessible by Interstates 285 and 20, as well as Marta’s Bankhead Station.

Some revitalization has begun in the Bolton, with developments such as the English Avenue Yards. This area accommodates an artists’ community consisting of roughly 20 studio spaces, the workshop for the Alliance Theater Company, Atlanta Ballet, and Atlanta Opera.

Atlanta’s nationally acclaimed Alliance Theatre was the recipient of the 2007 Regional Theatre Tony Award and a leading national theater. The theater caters to both youth and adult audiences.

Atlanta Ballet was founded 70 years ago, in hopes of bringing quality ballet to the Atlanta community. Atlanta Ballet is the oldest professional dance company in America, the largest self-supported arts organization in Georgia, and the official Ballet of Georgia.

The Atlanta Opera is a non-profit organization that produces opera performances and arts education programs for all ages. It directly serves almost 100,000 people in Metropolitan Atlanta. It is estimated that the company brings over $39 million of economic impact to the region each year.

In an effort continue to bring new life to the Bolton in Bankhead area, plans for building new modern lofts is currently underway. They will be built near Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway and Oliver Street.
