LA Mancha Apartments for Rent

La Mancha is part of Royal Palm Beach, a village roughly eight miles west of West Palm Beach and the Atlantic Ocean. The area got off to a slow start in the 1950s, but a population boom caused development to explode during the 1970s. What was once a rural community, that was miles from large-scale shopping malls and recreational facilities, now has all of these niceties close to its town core.

The La Mancha development, northeast of downtown, is an oddly shaped community that follows the greens of the neighboring Village Golf Club. Named after a historical district in Spain that was the birthplace of writer Miquel de Cervantes, the neighborhood sports street names like Malaga Street, Madrid Street, and of course La Mancha Avenue.

Homes along the western edge of Ponce De Leon Street, one of the main north-south roadways, front the golf greens, separated from the game by only a long, thin water hazard. The individually designed homes offer a mixture of architectural styles. Development started in the mid 1980s and new properties are still being added. A fair number of homes are vacation rentals.

Nearby schools include Royal Palm Beach Elementary and Royal Palm Beach Community High, both on the southern end of the neighborhood. A Sylvan Learning Center is part of the Crossroads Mall along Okeechobee Boulevard. South of the mall is the 65-acre Preservation Park, featuring a recreation center, lighted football fields, and roller-hockey rinks. Three other malls, Royal Commerce Park, the Commons at Royal Palm, and Cobblestone Village are a little more than a mile from La Mancha.
