This stretch of Florida’s east coast is located north of Brevard County and south of Jacksonville, about an hour from Orlando. Deland is the county seat of Volusia. This beautiful city is home to Stetson University, beautiful historic architecture, and the Museum of Florida Art. Deland’s downtown is an elegant, pedestrian-friendly historic district featuring 68 historic buildings, including the landmark Athens Theater.
The largest city in Volusia County is Deltona, which is considered a suburb of Orlando. Deltona is located on the north shore of Lake Monroe, a popular location for boating. Campbell Park includes a floating dock, a two-story overlook, gazebos, picnic areas, beach volleyball courts, and a fitness trail. Daytona State College is located in Deltona.
The most famous city in Volusia County is the famous spring break hotspot, Daytona Beach. Tourism is huge in Daytona Beach and centers around events such as the Daytona 500, the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, and Bike Week. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Bethune-Cookman University, and the University of Central Florida-Daytona Beach are all located in the city.
With miles of beaches along the coast, Volusia is a beautiful county with many parks, including Canaveral National Seashore, De Leon Springs State Park, Lake George State Forest, Blue Spring State Park, Tiger Bay State Park, and Hontoon Island State Park.
Other communities in Volusia County include Ponce Inlet, Ormond Beach, New Smyrna Beach, Port Orange, Edgewater, Holly Hill, and Lake Helen.
