Glendale Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
The Glendale neighborhood is located approximately two miles northeast of downtown Tallahassee. Within the 32303 zip area of Leon County, Glendale is a popular residential neighborhood situated to the north of East Bradford Road, west of Thomasville Road, and east of North Meridian Road. Nearby Florida neighborhoods include Durward to the north and Glenview-Pinegrove to the south.
Slightly to the east of Glendale is Guyte P. McCord Park. About five minutes to the southeast is Winthrop Park. McCord Park has more than 20 acres, with both open spaces and wooded areas, plus a walking path. Also a large park, Winthrop provides various athletic fields, tennis courts, and plenty of areas for walking. Winthrop can be accessed by turning south off Betton Road onto Mitchell Avenue.
The area to the west of Winthrop Park has many shopping and dining venues. Located east of Thomasville Road and along East Bradford Road, both established restaurants and fast-food choices are available. A movie theater is also located on Thomasville Road near Red Elephant Pizza & Grill.
Approximately a mile to the southwest of Glendale are Ruediger Elementary and Raa Middle School. A few minutes to the south are Kate Sullivan Elementary and Cobb Middle. Leon High School is about two miles to the south, on East Tennessee Street.
Within Glendale is a small area of which many residents are unaware. It is a “pocket park” on Florida Avenue, just off Thomasville Road. Also referred to as a “passive park,” it is a Tallahassee Parks and Recreation Department-maintained park that is smaller than five acres. Most pocket parks do not provide the same amenities as those often found at their larger counterparts. Known as Glendale Playground, this park is just over an acre and provides a simple place for neighbors, families, and friends to gather.
