Devonshire Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
The community of Devonshire, located in the city of Pensacola, Florida, has a very English name. However, its street names of Stonehenge Circle, Foxchase Circle and Devonshire Circle are simply reminders of the island on the other side of the Atlantic, with no further resemblance. Rather than being surrounded by water, this sunny neighborhood is framed by groves of trees on two sides and little development around the remainder.
The community, developed in the late 1960s, is only one block wide and four blocks long. All streets are cul-de-sacs, branching off from North 69th Avenue. Lots, averaging one-quarter acre, host large homes, most of which are two-story, single-family structures. Fewer than 50 homes, some with pools and all with plenty of shade trees line the quiet streets. Being nearly surrounded by hardwoods gives the area a rural feel, though it is within minutes of downtown Pensacola.
Nearby schools include Myrtle Grove Elementary and Escambia High, on the community’s eastern edge. Little Flower Catholic Church and Westwood Christian Church are also within walking distance and have their own elementary schools. Southgate Shopping Center and the Corry Field Shopping Mart are the closest malls, both to the south of the Devonshire neighborhood.
Golfers might find the Osceola Municipal Golf Course, roughly one mile to the north, a bit of a challenge. The 18-hole facility has been a part of the Pensacola landscape since 1926. Its signature restaurant, the Chiefs at Osceola, allows diners to watch through glass walls as golfers make their way around the course. Meadowbrook Park, only three blocks from Devonshire, has covered picnic areas, a basketball court and children’s playground.
