Amberwood Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
Amberwood is a subdivision located west of downtown Pensacola, part of the 32506 zip code. The neighborhood’s southern border abuts Highway 98. The community is east of West Fairfield Drive/Highway 727 and west of New Warrington Road/Highway 295.
In the shape of a square grid, this Florida neighborhood is comprised of Lavon Drive, Christian Drive, Amberway Drive, Amberwood Drive, and Corrydale Drive. Since its homes were built in the 1970s and 1980s, trees and landscaping are mature and provide shade for walking and riding bikes in the neighborhood. However, there are no sidewalks, so pedestrians should take caution regarding traffic.
Nearby military sites include the Naval Hospital of Pensacola, the VA Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System-Joint Ambulatory Care Center, and the Pensacola Naval Complex.
Amberwood is near Pensacola Bay, beaches, parks, and nature preserves. Lexington Terrace Park, a 30-acre regional park, is to the east and features a dog park, playground, open play areas, community center, large picnic pavilion, five smaller picnic shelters, and a series of walking paths.
The 655-acre Big Lagoon State Park separates the mainland from Perdido Key and the Gulf of Mexico. Visitors enjoy beaches, shallow bays, nature trails, and open woodlands, as well as opportunities to swim, fish, go crabbing, boat, canoe, camp, hike, and picnic. Birdwatching and wildlife viewing are favorite pastimes because of the park’s natural communities, which range from saltwater marshes to pine flatwoods.
Entertainment includes festivals such as the Pensacola Seafood Festival and the Pensacola Crawfish Festival, both with music and held in the historic downtown area. The Greater Gulf Coast Arts Festival takes place in Seville Square and draws more than 200 regional and international artists.
