Kirkman North Neighborhood

Kirkman North is a neighborhood in Orlando, Florida. The major roadways framing the area are Raleigh Street to the north, Kirkman Road to the west, and LB McLeod Road to the south. Also about a mile north is the East-West Expressway, and Interstate 4 is located to the southeast.

One of the area’s biggest draws is Valencia Community College’s massive campus. This large college provides education to many area residents, and offers numerous classes aimed at community enrichment. Valencia provides associate degrees and certification programs aimed towards helping area residents remain competitive in the job market.

Turkey Lake Park lies southwest of the neighborhood, near Hiawassee Road. Residents from the surrounding area come to the park to enjoy the park’s many amenities and natural sights. Turkey Lake is home to a wide assortment of plants and animals, with local alligators accounting for the park’s most popular animal attraction.

Turkey Lake has a large playground and picnic area, and park visitors are constantly taking advantage of the camping areas in the area. Each camping site has hookups for recreational vehicles, but there is an area for tent camping as well. Cabins are also available to rent throughout the year.

Southeast of the neighborhood is one of the area’s numerous theme parks. The Holyland Experience is a Christian, Bible-themed park. The park, however, is popular among visitors of all religions, agnostics, and even the nonreligious. The park features numerous rides, shows, and educational entertainment. The park itself is located just off of Interstate 4 near the Mall at Millennia.
