Settled in 1885, Haines City started out as a farming community in the center of Florida. A colorful blend of citrus groves and lakes, Haines City remained a sleepy, rural community until Disney World was built 15 miles north of the city. Soon, tourism drove the economy.
In 1915, Florida Fruit Products Co. started producing bottled grapefruit juice, a major success for the citrus farmers. Frozen concentrate was also developed in Haines City. During this “boom” time, many of the buildings in Downtown Haines City were built. Today, several of those buildings are listed on the National Historic Register.
The picturesque downtown district is also home to the Farmer’s Market every Wednesday, along with several boutiques, gift shops, and restaurants.
Posner Commons is a 2-million-square-foot shopping space located on the former grounds of Circus World. Circus World was a theme park that operated from 1974-1986.
Located 37 miles southwest of Orlando, Haines City is the perfect apartment rental location in the heart of Florida.
