Solano County Apartments for Rent(hide county information)
Halfway between San Francisco and Sacramento, Solano County is a unique blend of rural and suburban. Solano County, one of the nine counties that make up the San Francisco Bay area, was created in 1850 as one of California’s original counties. Because it is so ideally located to two major metros, Solano County is a great area for those who enjoy a little bit of everything – open, green space dotted with small farms, large urban hotspots, vineyards, trendy beaches, and soaring mountains.
The county seat, Fairfield, is a beautiful and popular city. It has a uniquely diverse economy, combining government and manufacturing with a Budweiser brewery, the Jelly Belly Candy Company, and Clorox. Travis Air Force Base is also located in Fairfield and is one of the area’s largest employers.
Although Fairfield is popular, it isn’t Solano County’s largest city. That honor belongs to Vallejo. There’s quite a lot happening in this large city – the California Maritime Academy is located here, along with Solano Community College. Other attractions include Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, a downtown farmers market, four golf courses, marinas, the Vallejo Yacht Club, and several museums and theaters.
Solano County includes several other cities, towns, and communities. Some of these are Vacaville, Rio Vista, Dixon, Benicia, Suisun City, Green Valley, Collinsville, and Maine Prairie.
