Meadowview Neighborhood

The Meadowview neighborhood is in the southernmost part of Sacramento. Most of the homes are mid-century homes with the classic abundance of mature trees that makes Sacramento one of the most heavily treed cities in America. Famous residents of Meadowview include actor LeVar Burton and author Cornel West.

This residential neighborhood is studded with mature trees and is bounded by open farmland to the south, Sacramento Light Rail tracks to the east, and Freeport Boulevard to the West. Meadowview is in the 95832 zip code.

The John Still Middle School, the John Still Center, and St Anne religious school are all located at the southern end of the Meadowview neighborhood. Meadowview Park is in the same area. The Pannell Pool and community center and the SETA Head Start school and park are in the northeast of the neighborhood.

The Meadowview Plaza Shopping Center is to the east of the area. Florin Road to the north is a major commercial corridor of Sacramento and hosts pharmacies and other stores. A Food Maxx supermarket is at Florin and Franklin roads. Food Stop and Meadowview markets are within walking distance or a short drive.

The Meadowview Light Rail Station is a short drive or walk away for access to the Blue Line on Sacramento’s extensive light rail transportation system. Downtown and Old Sacramento are a short drive north on Interstate 5 or Highway 99. California State University, Sacramento, and the University of California, Davis, are both easy commutes.

The San Francisco Bay Area can be reached in two hours by Interstate 80 west or in a more leisurely fashion by Amtrak train from Sacramento’s downtown station. The Sierra ski country is less than two hours away via Interstate 80 east. Lake Tahoe and more high Sierra ski country are about two hours away on Highway 50 east.
