East Del Paso Heights lies is North Sacramento and is bordered by McClellan Air Force Base, Marysville Boulevard, Bell Avenue, Winters Street, the newly renovated Haggin Oaks Golf Complex, and Roseville Road. The neighborhood was originally part of the Rancho Del Paso Mexican land grant. It was acquired by James Ben Ali Haggin in 1862 and converted into the horse-breeding farm that produced California’s first Kentucky Derby winner, Ben Ali, in 1886.
When McClellan developed into a major Air Force depot during the space-race era, East Del Paso Heights bloomed into a beautiful residential area for civilian and military professionals.
