Grandview is a picturesque, densely populated community in the Glendale area of Los Angeles, northeast of Hollywood. With an area of 0.925 square mile, the neighborhood has a population of approximately 15,000 residents. It’s bordered by West Kenneth Road; Grandview Avenue, which is the neighborhood’s namesake; San Fernando Road; the Golden Gate Freeway; and East Alameda Avenue.
Approximately 60 percent of the residential buildings in Grandview are apartment or condo complexes. About a quarter of the residential buildings are single-family, detached units of varying styles. There are also townhouses and attached homes in the community.
Grand View Memorial Park is in the southeast corner of the neighborhood. This massive cemetery is currently closed. The memorial park has an amphitheater and a mausoleum.
Griffith Manor Park is also within the Grandview community. This 2.9-acre park offers a playground for children, picnic tables, horseshoe courts, and a community building. Griffith Park, considered a major landmark of Los Angeles, is much larger and is situated to the southwest of Grandview. Its Los Angeles Zoo provides locals access to many species that they cannot see anywhere else in the Los Angeles area.
Grandview is a family-friendly community served by the Glendale Unified School District. The Montessori Academy, a top-notch preschool and kindergarten, is in the neighborhood. The First Lutheran School of Burbank, renowned for its academics, is only a half-mile northwest of the center of Grandview.
