Somerton is a small city located about halfway between Yuma and San Luis in the southwestern corner of Arizona. This region is native to the Cocopah Nation, which is the one of the area’s largest employers with destinations such as the Cocopah Speedway, the Cocopah Casino, Cocopah Wild River Family Entertainment Center, and the Cocopah Resort and Conference Center. The Somerton Tamale Festival is held annually, attracting about 30,000 visitors. The festival provides scholarships to local students attending Arizona State University.
