Mobile’s Venetia neighborhood covers just under three square miles of land but the residents living within the neighborhood are scattered throughout different areas. Some areas of Venetia contain single-family row houses while in the southern area, residents are more spread out. The southern portion of Venetia has a more rural appearance with untouched landscape sheltered behind wooden fences.
Venetia is located about six miles southwest of downtown Mobile, Alabama. The neighborhood sets southeast of Interstate 10 with the southern and eastern part bounded by the Dog River which drains into Mobile Bay. Luscher Park is situated in the northern part of Venetia and borders the river. This park also provides boats docks for access to the river.
Just beyond the southern border of Venetia is the Linksman Golf Course. Just south of Linksman is Schwarz Park. A few miles to the southeast of Venetia is Trimmier Park where residents can utilize the public athletic fields, playground, basketball court, and walking paths. Doyle Park is also located near Venetia to the east and offers many of the same amenities as Trimmier Park.
Venetia is less than two miles to the west of Mobile Downtown Airport. Just to the east of the airport are Brookley Industrial Park and University of South Alabama Brookley Complex. There are various shopping and dining venues for Venetia residents that surround this area including Fullbrook Shopping Center and Grant Plaza Shopping Center. Venetia residents living on the western edge of the neighborhood can travel west about two miles to Skyland Shopping Center and Skyline Plaza Shopping Center.
Approximately one mile to the north of Venetia is Morningside Elementary. Pillans Middle School is to the east, also about one mile. Rain High School is about two miles to the east on Dauphin Island Parkway. The Mobile City Public Library is just north of Pillans Middle School.
